5-23-10 Lesson 39: Rock your World

Sermon Theme: God gives me power to share Jesus with others.

Bible Verse: The Holy Spirit will come upon you and give you power. – Acts 1:8

Bible Story: Acts 1-2 Holy Spirit Power
The power of the Holy Spirit allows us to do all things. The Holy Spirit empowered Peter to tell a crowd of 3000 reminding them the miracles of Jesus Christ, their involvement with his death, God raised him from the dead. Cut to the heart, the people ask the apostles what they should do. Peter commands them to repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins and gift of the Holy Spirit. With many other words he exhorts them to be saved, and about 3000 souls gladly receive his word and are baptized

We asked the children to ask for the Holy Spirit to give them the power to share Jesus with others. Please encourage them to bring a friend for this coming week!

5/16/10 Lesson 37: Improve your serve

Theme: God loves it when I help others

Bible Verse: Help all who are weak, and be patient with everyone. -1 Thessalonians 5:14

Bible Story: Read Luke 10:25-37 – The Good Samaritan

The story of a good Samaritan helping a Jew. Jews and Samaritans were not the best of friends during New Testament times. There was a Jewish man walking down the road from Jerusalem to Jericho and suddenly 5 robbers attacked the Jewish man. They took all his money, stripped him of his clothes, beat him up and went away. They left him half dead and bloody. A Priest and a Levite walked by the Jew. The Samaritan, as he traveled came where the man was; when he saw him, he took pity on him, He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. “Look after him,” he said and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have. He didn’t just leave him with the innkeeper but he said I WILL RETURN and REIMBURSE YOU for any Extra Expense you may have. Jesus calls us to "Go and do likewise"

5-9-10 Lesson 36: Don't be a Lone Ranger - Happy Mothers Day!

Theme: I will stay connected to the family of God

Memory Verse: Some people have gotten out of the habit of meeting for worship, but we must not do that. -Hebrews 10:25

Bible Story: The Story of the Prodigal -Luke 15:11-32

The son took his inheritance from his father. He ran away and want to live a good life but he ended up spending everything and the son ended up working for someone else to feed pigs. He decided to go back to his father but his father saw him from far away as he was coming back and he open his arm and embrace him even though he went away. That shows how much God longs for us in our relationship with him. He wants us to stay connected to the family of God.

5-2-10 Bustin' through the roof

Theme: Jesus heals us and makes us whole.

Bible Verse: The Lord forgives our sins, heals us when we are sick -Psalm 103:3

Bible Story: Jesus heals a lame man -Luke 5:17-26 (Matt 9:1-8; Mark 2:1-12)

Jesus said that because of their faith the man's sins were forgiven. Jesus healed him right there in front of everybody.
Imagine someone who couldn't walk all his life and being able to jump up and walk because Jesus has healed him. The friends who brought the lame had faith that Jesus was going to healed him. Why would they go through all that trouble of ripping out the roof and lower him down to Jesus because there was no room. Do we have faith like them? Do we really believe that Jesus could heal us or our family members or even our friends? Jesus heals us and makes us whole again just like how he healed the crippled man.
