4-25-10 The not so perfect storm

Power Point: Jesus calms our fears

Main Point: Don’t be scared of anything because Jesus is there to calm our fears.

Memory Verse: I give you peace. It isn't like the peace that this world can give. So don't be worried or afraid. - John 14:27

Bible Story: Jesus Calms the Sea. Mark 4:35-41

There are many times when people are afraid. The might be afraid of other people. Or maybe they fear that something bad might happen in the future. Perhaps they are afraid of natural disasters like storms. But we need to remember that Jesus calms our fears. He doesn't leave us to fight them alone. No, he's able to take them completely away.

We did a skit:

Disciple 1: Can you believe this storm?! It came out of no where
Disciple 2: The waves are as high as our boat! We are in big Trouble
Disciple 1: We're going under!
Disciple 2: Why didn't I check the Weather Channel
Disciple 1: Should we wake up Jesus?
Disciple 2: I can't believe hes sleeping through this! YES WAKE HIM UP!
Disciple 1: Jesus! Jesus! Wake up! Don't you care that we're about to drown?
Jesus: Be Still!

Trust in God that God will calm our fears! He can even calm the storm and wind. What is impossible for men is possible for God!

4-18-10 Can you hear me now?

Sermon Theme: Prayer Builds friendship with God

Bible Story: Matthew 6:9:15 The Lord's Prayer

How do we build a relationship with God? How do you get close to people? By spending more time with them. In the same way, we need to spend time with God to get closer to him. Some of them may not know how to pray or even some of us don't know how to pray. Jesus gives an example of how to pray in the Lord's prayer.

4-11-10: Attitude is Everything

Sermon Theme: “I am blessed when I have a good attitude”

Bible Memory Verse: God blesses those people who want to obey him -Matthew 5:6

Scripture: John 19:17 – 20:18

Message Summary:
When are people blessed? Those who depends only on him. God wants people who trust him and turn to him for help when they're in trouble. God will comfort those who are sad. God blesses people who don't think they're better than other people. People who want to please God more than anyone else even if it means they go hungry or thirsty. Jesus taught that God blesses those who are merciful. He wants people who are kind to others. God want people who love and serve him with their whole heart. He wants people who are just as kind and loving in what they think as they are in what they are in what they say or do.
God wants people who are peaceful instead of people who are always looking for a fight. God wants people who will do the right thing even if it means that they get into trouble. Jesus bless you when non christian gets angry at you because of him. You must have a good attitude. Every way to be blessed depends on you having a good attitude. You have to have a good attitude to rely on him, remain humble, obey him, be merciful to others, keep your hearts pure and make peace- even if it means other people get mad at you

4-4-10: Easter Sunday

Sermon Theme: “Jesus paid for penalty for my sins”

Bible Memory Verse: God wiped out the charges against us. –Colossians 2:14

Scripture: John 19:17 – 20:18

Message Summary:

Sin is anything that does not please God. Sin separates us from God. God is sad when we sin. So God sent his one and only son Jesus to die for us on the cross and to live a full life without sin.

Jesus came down to earth to wash our sins away
Grace is God showing His love to you even though you don't deserve it. We can't earn God's grace. You do not deserve to be saved from sin and to have eternal life. But God showed His grace by saving you from sin's punishment when you trusted in Jesus as your Savior

The last hours of Jesus: he was chained, whipped, beat, dragged around, carrying the cross, mocked, getting laugh at and spit at.
Crucifixion – Nailed to the cross.
It doesn’t end there! He rose again after 3 days and today he is alive! In us!
