3-28-10: A Whale of a Tale

Sermon Theme: “Disobedience brings trouble”

Scripture: Jonah 1:1-2:10 The Story of Jonah

Message Summary: Jonah did not obey God when God calls him to go to Nineveh to tell them how wicked they are. It is the capital of Assyria. It's one of the most evil nations ever exist. BUT Jonah decided not to listen and RAN AWAY. and He ran to a ship. He was on the ship and thought he got away. He fell asleep in the below deck and fell asleep. God sent a big storm because of Jonah's disobedience. They all freaked out. Jonah admitted to the captain that it was his fault because he was running away from God. Jonah responded, "Throw me into the sea, and it will calm down" And they threw him in the water and Jonah was swallowed by a Giant Fish. Jonah cried to God for help. God heard Jonah's prayer and commanded the fish to spit Jonah back on the shore. The Big Fish obeyed. God told him to go to Nineveh again and Jonah obeyed
